Urban currently has 2 concurrent versions of the game running alongside each other, Old world is the original player base that has been active for around 6 years with a lot of the original game accounts running, due to the fact that the game is now that old it has become almost impossible for younger newer players to catch up with the elite players and game play has taken a different direction on this world.

A decision was taken to start a second world where everyone that joined would start on a level ground to re-ignite competition and that aspect of the game play allowing everyone a fair chance to progress and climb the ranks.

Development for both servers is ongoing with testing and new game code however the focus has shifted more to the New World with more attention being put into the new game as it grows and advances in it's own direction. We do still support the Old World however it's support is often limited to bug fixes and other maintenance releases.

Both servers run off the same shared code base and platform which is currently being unified into a modular structure, this code is also being re-written and optimized. At some point in the future a new version of urban when it is ready will be released with a brand new user interface, when this happens the codebase will polarize with the New World picking up on the new codebase design and features whilst the Old World game will remain stagnant on the old design.

We have no plans to shut down or close the Old World server as yet so there is always a choice when you sign up what environment you want to use, we give you this option as part of the signup. We also allow and encourage you to have an account on both servers if you wish to do so. You are however limited to each Worlds rules and items or characters cannot be traded between worlds.

Old World is aimed at the Urban original characters who have been there for years, those accounts are big and have a lot of stats and resources built up through a long time of game play. Those accounts are also almost impossible for you to catch up on so they have a bit of an unfair advantage over you, still interesting community and gameplay can be achieved in this environment. If you want a challenge then this would be a good place to go.

New World is for everyone, because it's new and everyone started on the same level it's more competative and fast paced, it contains a lot of the old urban characters rebuilding themselves as well as a lot of new faces and fresh people, this is a dynamic environment that delivers more potential for character development and growth and is always recommended as a good place to start off if you are new to Urban.
